New This Year! Junior Play Days!
We will be starting a play day for kids. The kids will be divided into 3 groups, a 3 hole group, 6 hole group and a 9 hole group (based on their experience). The kids will play from the Junior tees on the Back Nine. This is a casual play day with no entry fees, they are days that the kids can come out and play and meet some friends at the Club!

We will be planning a bus trip for juniors to go to the US Women's Open at Interlachen this year. The dates of the tournament are June 23-29, 2008. The anticipated date for this trip would be the Monday or Tuesday of the tournament week when the players will do an exhibition for the crowd. More details will follow.
Starting the 2008 season, Thursday mornings will be devoted to Junior Play Day. The Divisions will be divided to 3, 6, and 9 hole groups. Each group will play on the Back 9 each week. Listed are the dates set aside for Junior Golf: June 19, 25 July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 August 7 (last day) Summer Golf Program An active and enthusiastic junior golf program is offered in two sessions each two weeks long. All golf and social members (with golf privileges) may enroll their children ages 7 to 15. Lessons are taught by the professional staff and trained volunteers. With 36 junior golfers in each session, smaller groups are formed allowing each a chance at lessons on the range and game play on the course in smaller groups of three. Instruction includes rules and etiquette, short game technique and strategy, and fundamentals for the full swing. Juniors will meet from 8:00 am until 10:00 am each day of the six day session. Each junior must provide their own set of clubs and balls with which to play. The professional staff can provide the proper fit for any junior purchasing new or used junior clubs. Summer Golf Sessions in 2008: Session I: June 16th, 18th, 20th, 23rd, 25th, and 27th Session II: July 14th, 16th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, and 24th Parent/Child Golf Tournament: Conducted on a Sunday in July, the Parent-Child Championship is an alternate shot event. The tournament features four divisions: Mother-Son, Mother-Daughter, Father-Son, Father-Daughter. Players are flighted by age to comprise a total of 24 separate divisions - players range in age from 6 - 85! The tournament awards trophies for net and gross winners in each flight. RGCC will be participating in the Minnesota PGA Junior Tour Event on Monday, June 9th. Go to www.minnesotapga.com to sign up. We will be looking for players to represent RGCC for the Minnesota Golf Association's Junior Tour, contact the golf shop to sign up. High school level. Junior Golf Restrictions: Junior Players Ages 18 and Older: May compete in club events when competing with their parent or adult member. They may play the golf course with the same restrictions as an adult member. Junior Players Ages 16-17: May play on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (except holidays); Weekdays after 3:00pm; Weekends and holidays after 1:00pm. Juniors may play prior to 1:00 provided they are accompanied by an adult member; As play permits subject to the approval of the Professional Staff. Junior Players Ages 11-15: May play on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (except holidays); Weekdays after 3:00pm; Weekends and holidays after 3:00pm. Juniors may play prior to 3:00pm provided they are accompanied by an adult member; As play permits subject to the approval of the Professional Staff. Junior Players Ages 9-10: May play on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (except holidays); Weekdays after 3:00pm; Weekend and holidays after 3:00pm if accompanied by an adult member and after 5:00pm if playing alone; As play permits subject to the approval of the Professional Staff. Junior Players Ages 8 and Under: Junior players must be accompanied by an adult member and must be playing golf: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (except holidays); Weekdays after 3:00pm; Weekends and holidays after 5:00pm; As play permits subject to the approval of the Professional Staff. Junior Guests: Golfing guests under the age of 18 are considered junior guests and may play (on weekdays only) under the above restrictions. Junior guests may play at a reduced fee no more than once per calendar month at RGCC. |
