Junior Golf Program

We wanted to design and present a multi-faceted program that would engage the widest variety of Juniors.  The program is largely complimentary.  Clinics will be open to not only member’s children, but grandchildren of members as well as friends.  All we ask is that a member introduce, or sponsor, the junior golfer.

We designed the Junior Program to allow parents to leave their kids in a safe and fun environment and give parents the opportunity to play golf, run errands for a day, enjoy community events, etc.  Juniors who participate in the program will learn, not only the golf swing, but about golf’s culture and history and how golf can play a positive roll in their lives for decades to come.

Program Components:

Early Season Clinics - complimentary

  • Rather than waiting until school gets out, we will run 2 clinics in May to generate interest in the summer series as well as golf in general.   The first will be on May 14th from 4:30 to 5:30.  The second will be on May 23rd, and will run from 2:00 to 3:00.

Junior Club Fitting- complimentary

  • On May 9th, we will hold a Demo Day for all golfers.  Titleist, Callaway, Cobra and Taylor Made will be here for the adults and older juniors.  US Kids will have clubs of all sizes available.
  • May 24th will be a fitting day for adults and Juniors.  The Golf Professionals will be on the practice range to fit golfers of all ages.  We’ll have junior clubs for both left and right handed golfers down to age 4.

Junior Clinic Series- complimentary

  • We will have Wednesday sessions that begin in the morning and run through the afternoon.  We will stagger the drop-off times depending on ages and ability.
  • We will have Thursday sessions that begin in the later afternoon to allow for children of parents that cannot bring their kids during the day.  It will start around 5 and run until 7.  This will allow parents to run up to the gatherings in town (Thursdays on First).
  • Juniors are welcome at either or both.  Each will have divisions based on age/ability.
  • Clinics will focus on: the swing, rules, etiquette and safety, membership rules and expectations, and the history and culture of the golf.
  • Both will start mid-June and run through the end of August.  We will skip a few weeks throughout the summer due to things like the Shelden, Club Championship, and Member/Member.

Family Clinics- complimentary

  • We will hold 3 clinics for the entire family.  Our thought was that it would be important for kids to experience the learning process with their parents as well as allow parents to hear more of what we teach the kids so that they can reinforce our teachings.
  • Parents will hopefully learn some things as well.
  • Dates are: June 28th, July 12th, and August 2nd.  All will run from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Player’s Camp- $50 per golfer

  • From July 21 through 24, we will hold a specialized camp for juniors who aspire to truly fine tune their skills and further their competitive capabilities.  It will be geared towards the better juniors and will be more technical in its scope.
  • The camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. each day

Certification Program - complimentary

  • If a junior golfer can prove aptitude in several aspects of golf, it would earn that golfer expanded playing privileges on the course.
  • This program would include:  playing ability, rules knowledge, etiquette, speed of play and attitude.
  • Upon completion of the requirements, which will include a round of golf with a golf professional, the junior golfer will be given a member’s bag tag with their name on it.
  • This program will run all season and only requires the junior scheduling tests with the Professional’s Shop.

Grand Parent/Parent/Child Tournament - $10 per player

  • The event will be held on July 26th. The more the merrier!!!
  • We will encourage participation of multiple generations.  The thought being that if three generations “compete” together, it will generate special memories and bonding opportunities.
  • Competition will be mild in nature, with the emphasis on fun.
  • Picnic and Awards following the event.

Junior Club Championship- $20 per player

  • Held during Club Championship week on July 16th.
  • Divisions available for different age groups.
  • Participants will be invited to and recognized at the Club Champions Party on July 19th following completion of the adult Club Championships.

Season Ending Junior Ryder Cup- complimentary

  • Juniors will be able to participate in a point based system rewarding: participation in the various program components, playing and practice frequency, completion of certification program, and quality of play in the Club Championship and other events.
  • Top point qualifiers will play in a Ryder Cup style event at the end of the summer.
  • Completion of the Certification Program prior to the competition will be required, however golfers can accumulate points prior to completion of certification.

Please help us support the Junior Golf Program.  We will need volunteers at various times throughout the summer.  Talk it up amongst your friends.  Have fun and be engaged with your children as they take part in this program and learn this wonderful game.
